  The internationally acclaimed Polish born art deco era painter Tamara de Łempicka, was most active as an artist in the 1920s and 1930s in both France and the United States. She was a remarkable stand-alone talent in the world of art. Her works of art, highly individual, stylized paintings in the main, were cleverly considered and well delivered portraits of the wealthy, the noble and the famous socialites she mixed with and all her paintings were verging on the erotic and sensual.

Glamorous is perhaps the most apt way to describe her work. Just as full of glamour were Tamara Lempickas' paintings, as they were as bright and vivacious as she was.

 To say that her portrait paintings were distinctive is an understatement and there were few artists internationally who could emulate her unique style, or even tried. That is, until her paintings became sought after and valuable. Then things changed dramatically when the fakers came along  and copies and variations of her style flooded the market, claiming to be legitimate.

 An ever growing number of works of art including paintings bearing the name Tamara de Lempicka have been consigned for sale in auctions around the world in recent times and as the values of her works of art consistently climb, there is an greater need for the confirmation of legitimacy.

 Works of art that do surface will require both a comprehensive and thorough investigation of their backgrounds and provenance and similar scrutiny made of them to confirm that any previously given attribution is correct, or that any description itself of a work of art seemingly by Lempicka can truly be relied upon.

 All too often do we hear of clients getting wrapped up in thinking they are bidding on a bargain, when they are often buying sight unseen from internet sites who have little or no control or interest over sellers making rash claims about origins and authenticity and hiding behind their terms and conditions.
