The French artist Edouard Vuillard, was a genre painter of domestic interiors, boudoirs and the simple everyday things which surrounded him. True, he was not as well known as the French Impressionist artists of his homeland but he was much more prolific, painting some 3,000 works of art in his life with notoriety coming late in his career. But with paintings such as this below; La table de toilette, dans les fleurs painted by Vuillard in 1895 netting a cool $7 million dollars at Christies, this pulled the socks up on the values of all his other works and the inevitable happened. In come the fakers.

To such a degree that we have seen an influx of dozens of fake Vuillard works of art in the past few months alone cropping up at auctions and estate sales in Europe and the USA which we have been asked to verify by purchasers and sellers alike, either as Vuillard fakes or carry through authentication and provenance investigations with a view to authenticating as legitimate , works of art by Edouard Vuillard. Vuillard's simplistic works are truly lovely as you will see from the legitimate examples of his work below BUT they are even lovelier for the professional faker as they are not that difficult to forge. Neither is his signature! British art forger Tom Keating laid claim to hundreds of Vouillard forgeries.
