Jackson Pollock

  Paul Jackson Pollock was an American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. Born in Cody, Wyoming to a poor migrant family, he was raised in different locations in the American West, mainly in Arizona and California.

His preferred method of painting was to pour household paint and splash it over the canvas, a technique he called the drip method, or action painting as it later became to be known. David Alfaro Siqueiros the Mexican muralist introduced Pollock to the use of liquid paint in 1936 at an experimental workshop in New York City though he went on to use unusual paints called alkyd enamels, which are synthetic resin-based paints.

 A classic "drip" picture by Jackson Pollock, simply called Number 5, became the world's most expensive Jackson Pollock painting after it was sold in America by the Hollywood entertainment mogul David Geffen for $140 million

 The Pollock-Krasner Authentication Board was created by the Pollock-Krasner Foundation in 1990 to assess and decide upon the legitimacy of 'newly found' Jackson Pollock works for their upcoming supplement to their 1978 catalogue.

However, to date, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation has declined to be involved in any further authentication cases due to the vast numbers of fakes and forgeries that have emerged.

 Jackson Pollock's 'drip' series of course are faked, but generally quite badly. However, of his early works, much more traditional and realistic, there has been an upsurge of those studies coming onto the market in recent years.

 Scrutiny:  Identifying fake works of art and forgeries, including any false supportive accompanying documentation and determining works of art which may be studio or later copies, or previous incorrect attributions.

 Prosecution:  Investigating alleged art fraud and forgery and assisting and advising those who are , or may be considering litigating or prosecuting the fact. This includes legal professionals and private clients.

 Attention:  Conducting all fine art related due diligence and duty of care inquiries. Including safe prepurchase or sale related audits and assisting clients in consolidating a well balanced future family distribution.
