 Eloquently and comprehensively previously written about, a biography of the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch is hardly required again here, save to say that his works often possess an intensity that is absolutely epitomised in his most famous painting, 'The Scream'. Not a painting as such, but a pastel drawing that was auctioned for a record $119.9 Million dollars in 2012. It is a picture that has become an icon of modern art.

 Munch translated many of the images from his paintings into prints, lithographs, drypoints, etchings and his woodcuts, which have helped to inspire a revival of the print making technique in the 20th century, particularly among the expressionist artists.

However even the prints are being faked, perhaps more so than his paintings which are so well recorded. Even so, facsimiles of his work and drawings in pastel, crayon, ink and pencil are still being projected onto the art market claiming to be legitimate Munch works.
