Authentication: Investigating with a view to establishing a fully, internationally accepted, proven and correctly underpinned certification of a work of art. Generally requiring international academic, multilingual archival research and forensic applications and thorough in depth investigations.

Attribution: Identifying and confirming the anonymous artist, studio or workshop from which a work of art may have first originated. One which may not have been previously known or formerly identified.

The Art Authentication Process - Before you begin
Before entering into a full investigation of the legitimacy, authenticity or attribution of any work of art, it is more than wise to know if the project is viable enough to justify the pursuit. So we prefer to conduct a preliminary professional pre-authentication assessment for clients first. A well reasoned, independent study based upon your images, the full known details of the items history and provenance. This allows for a balanced and rational measure of the risks and requirements that lie ahead and is both a logical and a cost effective professional assessment and advisory for which there is naturally a modest set fee.
